The Highway 90/I-10 Saltwater Rule
Mississippi has a very clear geographic boundary system:
- North of Interstate 10 (I-10): Only a Freshwater license is required.
- Between I-10 and Highway 90: You can legally fish with EITHER a Freshwater or Saltwater license.
- South of Highway 90 (Coastal): A Saltwater license is strictly required.
The "Small Game" Base
Don't be confused by the naming structure. The cheapest $10 base recreational freshwater license in MS is technically called the "Small Game Hunt / Freshwater Fishing" license. There is no standalone $10 fishing-only card.
